Abstract

The distribution and function of postpositions in Awutu, a language from the Guang subgroup of Kwa languages are described. Similar morpheme classes, sometimes called locative nouns, exist in other Kwa languages.

The main function of these morphemes is that of marker of case. All of the postpositions can function as markers of the locative case. One postposition, ò, can also function as a marker of the "topical" case.
