About the Journal

La Revue des Inventions Théâtrales Africaines (RITA) is an interdisciplinary scholarly journal that focuses on theatrical creation across a range of African and diasporic contexts. The journal publishes academic articles, reflection pieces on African theatre, and contributions of all kinds by scholars, authors, performers and artists, as well as cultural workers.

RITA was created by the founding members of the Atelier de Recherche sur L'Invention Théâtrale en Afrique Francophone (ARIT-AF). It has an international board of scholars and artists who work across a range of geographic, linguistic and cultural contexts.

Joint Call for Submissions: RITA 2.1 and RITA 2.2

The editorial committee of the Revue Internationale des Inventions Théâtrales Africaines, an interdisciplinary open access journal, is releasing a double call for the two issues of the journal’s second volume, one open-themed, the other a special issue edited by Professor Cheryl Toman.
