The Rocky Mountain Journal of Politics (RMJP) is an open-access peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing original research in politics and public policy. The journal is operated by the Barney Ford Lab for Civic Thought and Engagement at CU Boulder.

The journal has two primary goals:

  • Provide Barney Ford Lab graduate fellows with an opportunity to learn how academic journals and the publishing process works. The editors and editorial team are tenure-track faculty, but we try to actively involve our graduate students in the process as editorial assistants.
  • Provide an open-access alternative for publishing research in politics and public policy.

The journal does not charge any article processing charges.

All manuscripts published in the journal are published under a Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International license.

No manuscripts, or other material, in this website may be used to train large language models or other artificial intelligence.

The journal is in the process of launching and is not accepting unsolicited submissions at this time. We expect to open submissions in early Spring 2026.
