Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor has it been submitted for review by another journal (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is a Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx). For art/open media genres, submissions should be in .jpeg or audio/video format.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines. Follow APA 7th Edition guidelines to include DOIs where appropriate.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ARTISTS and OPEN MEDIA SUBMISSIONS:
When you go to submit your work, you will be prompted with an "Abstract" box. In that space, please include media type, dimensions (height x width x depth in inches) of the artwork, an Artist's Statement, and note if your work is part of a series.

Important Citation Information:
  • APA format
    • In APA format (7th edition), include the DOI for all works that have one. It goes at the end of your reference--no period at the end. Write the DOI as a hyperlink starting with https://doi.org/
      • Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (Date of publication). Title of article. Title of Journal, volume number, page range. https://doi.org/10.0000/0000
    • If your article has no DOI whatsoever, which may happen with older articles, simply omit this from the citation:
      • Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (Date of publication). Title of article. Title of Journal, volume number, page range.
    • If your article includes both a DOI and a URL, include only the DOI.
See these and other examples in the Purdue OWL: APA Formatting and Style Guide.
