Submission Guidelines

  • Please Register (create a username & password) on the site to submit your work.
  • When you register:  For "Affiliation" you can list University of Colorado Boulder.
  • Please Log in to submit additional work after you register

General Submission Requirements:

  • Essays, papers, and thesis submissions must include proper citation format (APA), in the form of a bibliography or works cited page, footnotes, and/or in-text citations, as appropriate to the work. 
  • Submissions of any length are accepted. 
  • Examples of length guidelines are as follows: manuscripts on lived experiences are typically around 500-1500 words, literature reviews should not be longer than 12 pages (about 2,500 words) and original research should not be longer than 20 pages (about 4,000 words). These are not hard cutoffs, please contact the editors for individual consultation.
  • All text submissions (papers, essays, op-eds or poems) should be submitted as a Mircosoft Word document (.doc or .docx), not a pdf.
  • Only submit your own work (do not submit someone else's work on their behalf).
  • Do not submit any work for which someone else holds the copyright (e.g. images, text, music, video clips, etc.).

Art Submission Requirements:

  • Please submit all art images as a .jpeg file
  • Artwork in which the name cannot be removed will be excluded from the requirement to remove all personal information from the piece
  • Submissions must be high-resolution (at least 300 DPI)
  • When prompted by the "Abstract" box on the submission form, please provide: art or media type of the submitted piece, dimensions (height x width x depth in inches) of the artwork, an Artist's Statement, and note if your work is part of a series.

Open Media (e.g. digital art, music or audio, video, dance, documentaries, film, musical or theatrical or dance performances, set design, advertising, and art produced through other means) Submission Requirements:

  • Please submit all image-based art as a .jpeg file
  • Artwork in which the name cannot be removed will be excluded from the requirement to remove all personal information from the piece
  • Submissions must be high-resolution (at least 300 DPI)
