Vol. 1 No. 1 (2023): Palimpsest: Innovative Works, Transformative Experiences, and Evolving Practices in Student Success and Academic Advising.
It is an absolute pleasure to introduce the inaugural publication of CU Boulder’s first advising and student success open-source online journal. This vision has been in the works for over two years, and in the hearts and minds of many in the CU Boulder Advising community for over 25 years. This publication is offered to the world with the intention of providing a space to continue elevating the profession of academic advising while working in concert with student affairs and student support professionals, and their research, experiences, and practice. The accessibility of an open-source online journal makes it possible for us all to be fully connected to each other and to developments in our field. This medium also allows us to be directly involved in ongoing knowledge construction on our campus and beyond. It is incredible to think that it has been 26 years since the creation of the advising profession on the CU Boulder campus, and we are confident that it will continue to grow and develop to support our students in perpetuity.
The word, Palimpsest, is defined as a manuscript or piece of writing material on which the original writing has been effaced to make room for later writing but of which traces remain. We argue that building new or updated narratives from remaining traces subconsciously influences and shapes how we co-create, in this case, our academic advising narrative on this campus. Each publication of this journal will be a collection that inspires, tells stories, and urges you, the readers, to engage, discuss, and immerse yourself in our collection of narratives.
We are delighted that you are joining us, dear readers, and hope you will also join us as contributors for future issues.
